Our Giving Options
ANNUAL FUND – UNRESTRICTED
Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund enable Heartwood to meet the day-to-day operating and programming costs in the areas of performance and education. Your gift to this fund may be used in any number of ways: royalties, venue rental, publicity, sets/props, musicians, teachers, visiting artists, staff, phone and internet fees, insurance premiums, office supplies, or production space, to name a few! Unrestricted gifts provide ultimate flexibility to direct funds where the need is greatest. Your unrestricted gift to the Annual Fund will have an immediate impact and benefit every aspect of the theater company today!
SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Heartwood Goes to School (HGTS) is now in its 3rd year, partnering with more than 20 Midcoast schools, many of which have little or no in-house arts curriculum. We bring vital theater arts education and experiences to thousands of K-8 students, each year. Led by qualified Heartwood teachers and visiting Maine artist/performers, this innovative and challenging program offers schools a variety of options ranging from in-school performances and related workshops to week-long residency programs. (Please see our HGTS page for further info and testimonies.)
YOUTH THEATER SUMMER CAMP
Heartwood has been running multiple summer camps since 2003. Hundreds of students have enjoyed dynamic teachers and visiting Maine artist/performers, while learning much about themselves through the process of theater, in a challenging, but fun-filled and safe environment. Camps are available for students K-12, in the month of July.
SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Despite our best efforts to keep camp tuition prices as low as possible (we do NOT make a profit on this venture), there are always families in need of financial aid. Heartwood continues to receive numerous requests each year, and we do our best – with the enormous generosity of local businesses – to meet these requests. We have never turned away a student due to lack of ability to pay, but the needs are increasing. If you believe in the transformative power of theater for students, this may be an area in which you prefer to invest.
