This original script and staging developed for Heartwood Goes to School is based on the early, traditional versions of the tale (La Belle et la Bete) told by authors such as Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont in the salons of France.

Rooted in the Greek myth (Cupid and Psyche), this grand early fable is subtle and charming and highly theatrical.
