"As It Is In Heaven" -- And Here, in the Midcoast

Despite the inevitable January snowfall, Heartwood Theater Company opened “As It Is In Heaven,” by Arlene Hutton, to full houses last weekend. As the actresses, themselves, have said, “There is something in this show with which every audience member will connect. It’s a show about people. A slice of life.” A tightly knit ensemble of nine women led by Artistic Director Griff Braley have woven a magic tapestry, transporting audiences directly into an 1830’s Kentucky Shaker community, through this powerful dramatic piece. In this simpler time and place, the truth is revealed: There is nothing new, under the sun. People are people. Community is community. And this is good theater. For video clips and press reviews, visit www.heartwoodtheater.org. Seating is extremely limited, and tickets are going quickly – better reserve now.

Sponsored this season by Bath Savings Institution, Heartwood has 4 more evening performances and 1 matinee remaining at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta. “As It Is In Heaven,” produced with special permission by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. and sponsored by Supplies Unlimited, will run at 7:30 pm on January 27, 28, Feb 3, and 4th and at 3:00 pm on January 29. Reservations are a must at 563-1373 or boxoffice@heartwoodtheater.org. Tickets are $12/students thru high school and $18/all adults.

Dinner and theater – two perfect complements! Why not round out your evening with one Heartwood’s local Dinner Partners: Salt Bay Café, the Rising Tide Community Market, King Eider’s Pub, the Newcastle Publick House, or the Damariscotta River Grill.
