"(Theater is) ... an affirmation, an age-old rite,
restating and reassuring man's belief in his own destiny and his
ultimate hope." Maxwell Anderson
Heartwood Regional Theater Company began its inaugural season in
September 2003 with great anticipation for the heart and soul of its
mission. Strategic and financial plans, support from the community,
and a desire to enjoin many professionals and amateurs in the collaborative
adventure of theater arts, brought Heartwood into existence.
A first season was established and dedicated to a full range of
performance genres, and to challenging, engaging works. Continuing
through a second season and two summer camps for kids, the company
begins the final year of the first three year cycle in September,
2005.
We believe the EVERYONE involved in the process, from amateur performers
of all ages, to professionals artists and coaches, to audience members,
will benefit from our diverse collaborations. Spanning age, geography,
experience, and genre, Heartwood strives for a regional experience
of the highest caliber. |
“I learned. . .
to let go of what I think other people expect of me, to learn
a process of preparation, and to focus on the story that you are
trying to tell.”
to be true to myself and to go with my instincts.”
more in the past 5 months about performance, than I have in
my 18 years of life.”
that you can do things if you set your mind to it.”
that ensemble is the most important thing.”
that I can achieve big things if I allow myself to do so.”
that it takes us all to have a great show.”
that pushing myself in this level of commitment was challenging,
exhausting and extremely fulfilling!”
that I can be a supporting character and still be a good character.”
